Setting A Schedule Part 1 Why Set A Schedule? By Martin Lightbowne

Before we go through the process of setting a schedule, why you should set a schedule and the importance of targeting something that is achievable, I want to take just a few moments to discuss WHY you should even set a schedule in the first place.

When you started your Network Marketing business, what was it that really caught your attention? For 90% of people the thing that really catches their attention is the possibility of being their own boss, breaking free from the corporate shackles and working from home.

So whats the first thing they do when they start their home business? They are now their own boss they can set their own schedule, work when they want and on whatever it is that they want to work on. So they lean back in their chair, put their arms behind their head and congratulate themselves on now being their own boss. So whats the first thing theyre going to decide to do today as the owner of their company? How about we take the kids to the park, or take the partner out for a meal to show them how much they are appreciated. Then the next day comes and there is something else thats important to do. But thats ok, they are their own boss so they can decide to just do that today and start again on their business tomorrow. And so the cycle continues. Day after day important things come up that need to be taken care of and before you know it the good intentions of working 40 hours this week on your business have materialised into about 4 hours, but hey they did get a lot of important things done. Next week will be different.

This cycle continues week after week until they get depressed about how little their business is growing and then give up their business efforts. Whatever you do - decide right now that this wont be you.

You see what most people dont realise is that there will always be important things to do. There will always be jobs around the house, things to do with the kids, nice to do things with your partners, friends to see and a million other things every single day. We all have a limited number of hours in the day and the difference between the haves and the have nots, the unsuccessful and the successful, is what we do with the 24 hours in the day. Now dont get me wrong, Im not saying to sacrifice your family life, Im just saying that you need to dedicate time to your business and agree with your family that business time is for your business and that they recognise and respect that time.

If you want to achieve the success that you want to achieve in your business then you give your business the time it needs to grow. Without you your business is nothing. Surprisingly if you give time to your business, commit the time and then only use this time to growing your business youll still find time to do all the other stuff. Yes you may need to make a few sacrifices but isnt your business worth it?

So with that said, hopefully you now have a good idea about why you need to set a schedule. If you dont set a schedule then its unlikely that youll give your business the time it needs without being distracted. So lets move on and look at the story of two hats and how to set an effective schedule this is continued in Setting A Schedule Part 2.

God Bless
